All the 'Awe Dropping' Announcements You Missed at Apple's Event
Apple announced new hardware and software this week. But said little about AI compared to previous events.
On Tuesday, the company took the wraps off the iPhone 17 in all its variations, most notably the new skinny iPhone Air, along with new Apple Watches -- Series 11 and Ultra 3 -- and an upgrade to its 2-year-old AirPods Pro 2 earbuds.
More than 40% of American adults now report being online “almost constantly”
If you feel like you’re constantly online in some way, you’re not alone. We’re approaching a time when nearly half of us, especially in wealthier nations, will feel like we’re constantly online.
On Monday, the Pew Research Center published a survey conducted across 24 countries worldwide that found a median of 28% of adults reporting being online constantly... and 9% reporting not using it at all.
Microsoft and OpenAI announce the 'next phase' of their partnership
Microsoft and OpenAI have changed some language in their existing agreement that allows for revenue sharing, access to AGI (if it comes), and give OpenAI the ability to do an IPO.
As the publication notes, a change in the company's agreement paves the way for OpenAI to transition into a public benefit corporation, a type of corporation that's meant to make a positive impact on society, and for an eventual IPO. OpenAI had to reach an acceptable agreement with Microsoft first, including how much equity it's getting in the AI firm's for-profit arm.
From Data To Decisions: UX Strategies For Real-Time Dashboards
Every company wants more dashboards—more ways to see all the data. But this is a problem I’ve dealt with for a decade: how to use the right data to drive action. It’s easy enough to put all the data in front of a user. But it’s more important, and better, to put the right data in front of them so they can take the right actions.
Real-time dashboards are decision assistants, not passive displays. In environments like fleet management, healthcare, and operations, the cost of a delay or misstep is high. Karan Rawal explores strategic UX patterns that shorten time-to-decision, reduce cognitive overload, and make live systems trustworthy.
Build Places, Not Products
As someone who builds products for a living, a absolutely agree with this. It’s not about the product, it’s about the overall experience.
When sameness costs nothing, difference carries the value. If two products solve a problem equally well, people choose the one that feels better to use—-the tone of voice that resonates, the design that delights, the experience that feels lighter or more focused.

Fall Foliage Prediction Map
It’s that time of year again—time to get out and see the beautiful fall colors. It is one of my favorite times of year. But when will the colors be the best? This is a useful tool for knowing when to head into the forest or canyons to check out the leaves.
